Last month I ranted about some serious problems with search results for popular navigational queries on Microsoft Live Search.
Dan Sharp commented that he’d written about the same issues at the start of the year.
Within two weeks, Microsoft’s SEM-evangelist-at-large, Mel Carson, asked me to check again. And lo, the problems were fixed.
It’s a shame that Microsoft let these problems go on for so long, but full marks to them responding to my criticisms so quickly.

Nice hand jobs.
They missed a couple like http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=mahalo&go=&form=QBRE but definitely great to see Mel and co acting on these.
I was just listening to Nathan Buggia at PubCon yesterday talk about how they are getting better at understanding the intent of queries, like navigational searches like this.
So lets hope the algo will do this in the future.
